COMPONENTS ASSEMBLER
JOB SUMMARY:
To perform assemble, align, and test precision optical and electro-optical components used in fiber laser systems. The role requires advanced knowledge of optical systems, fiber handling, and laser safety practices as well as and the ability to follow technical drawings, work instructions, and quality standards in a clean manufacturing environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a position with no supervisory responsibilities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assemble and align complex optical and electro-optical components used in high-power fiber laser systems
Perform advanced fiber splicing, cleaving, connectorization, and termination using specialized tools and fusion splicers.
Collaborate with engineering on prototype builds, process development, and design-for-manufacturability improvements.
Conduct optical alignment, testing, and verification using power meters, spectrum analyzers, and interferometers.
Identify, document, and resolve production and quality issues in collaboration with the Quality and Engineering teams.
Maintain accurate production documentation, inspection data, and test reports.
Ensure compliance with all company safety, ESD, and laser safety standards.Support continuous improvement initiatives related to yield, throughput, and process consistency.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Expert-level skills in fiber handling, splicing, polishing, and alignment.
Strong understanding of optical principles, laser safety, and assembly processes.
Ability to read and interpret complex assembly drawings and schematics.
Experience with microscopes, alignment lasers, power meters, and related diagnostic tools.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Proficient in basic computer applications and manufacturing documentation systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certificate in optics, electronics, or related field preferred.
2–4 years of experience in experience in fiber laser component or precision optical assembly.
Knowledge of ISO quality systems advantageous.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work performed in a cleanroom or laboratory environment.
Requires use of microscopes, precision tools, and optical alignment equipment.
May involve occasional lifting of items up to 25 lbs.
Must follow all company safety, ESD, and laser operation protocols.
