JOB SUMMARY:
Oversee the manufacturing and assembly of laser system components and laser systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing production schedules, ensuring quality standards, optimizing processes to achieve the highest level of efficiency and productivity, and leading a team of assembly technicians and integrators. This role requires a hands-on candidate with a strong background in precision manufacturing, production management, communication and leadership.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for the recruitment, training and management of those employees in the Production department including Electrical Assembly, Optical Assembly and Integration.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Production Oversight: Manage end-to-end production of laser components/systems, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Planning & Scheduling: Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet defined goals.
- Resource Allocation: Effectively allocate personnel, materials, and equipment to optimize production.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and maintain key production KPIs (yield, quality, efficiency, failure rates).
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Enforce quality control standards, ensure adherence to procedures, and uphold workplace safety.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and supervise production staff, assigning tasks and managing performance.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Resolve production issues, implement corrective actions, and develop contingency plans.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with purchasing to ensure smooth production flow.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate production records and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Engineering Collaboration: Partner with engineering to transition new products and manage change orders.
- Work Instruction Management: Ensure production work instructions are up to date and adhered to.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong computer literacy required (Microsoft suit products, CRM, ERP, Outlook, ect)
- Knowledge of ISO Quality Systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering or an, Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in electronics, optics or physical sciences
- Minimum of 5 years of applicable industry experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use fingers and hands to manipulate small parts.
- Excellent vision is required to perform job.
- Must be capable of working in front of a computer for long periods of time.
