JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Sales & Application Engineer for the Lidar Systems Division is to assist the LiDAR sales team in identifying and providing technical solutions.   Responsibilities will include advising the sales team on the performance of the product throughout the product’s lifecycle, defining the product vision, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and working closely with engineering to deliver winning products.

The Sales & Application Engineer for the Lidar Systems Division is also responsible for assisting customers including addressing customization requests, advising best practices for installation and providing aftersales support.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·This position has no direct responsibilities for supervising other employees but does require the ability to provide effective instruction and training to others.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Work closely with research and development to assist with LiDAR system applications.

·Define a portfolio of solutions to address LiDAR system issues.

·Assist with the development of an ongoing strategy for the Atmospheric LiDAR.

·Deliver market requirement documents and product requirement documents with prioritized features and the corresponding justification.

·Work with third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.

·Assist sales team in discussing products with customers.

·Responsible for running beta and pilot programs on new products and samples.

·Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs in the field.

·Provide training and instruction to team members and customers.

·Responsible for providing necessary documentation in an accurate/detailed manner.

.Travel domestically and internationally 25 to 35% of the time.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Technical knowledge of Wind LiDAR and/or Wind Assessment
• Technical knowledge of lasers, optics, electronics and software.
• Experimental capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate.
• Ability to meet key performance metrics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Computer literacy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as an application engineer or wind assessment engineer.
• Experience with successfully defining and launching new products.
• Experience with the successful execution of projects in a research & development or product development role.
• Experience in the technical field of LiDAR preferred.
• Fluency in French preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·Ability to use fingers to manipulate small parts.   

·Ability to use hands to seize, hold and grasp. 

·Ability to reach with hands and arms. 

·Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.   

·Ability to stoop, kneel and crouch occasionally. 

·Requires working near moving mechanical parts. 

Requires good vision.
